My wife, pregnant daughter, and son-in-law were having the exact same problem just now. My daughter figured out that the release button to let the seat sit upright again, needed pressure on the top edge for the button to work. Once that was sorted, it only took another half hour of head scratching to figure out how to attach the seat to the base, followed by another half hour trying to figure out how to remove it from the base again. I think it would have just been abandoned, only for impending first time motherhood quickly approaching.
