Shining like a diamond in a goats arse. Stands out from the usual bike industry crap engineering.

Much more to come from EB. Subscribe for
more nerdy break downs.

Counting the weeks/days/hours until my Pinion MGU equipped Simplon Rapcon arrives.
Love the new tech.

This is what happens when automotive engineers make bike equipment. Can't say Pinion ever impressed me, but there is plenty of respect for things just done right.

Thanks for taking a look at it. Really cool that pinion is listening to what customers really want. That's a big middlefinger to all chaindirve manufacturers.

Excited to hear the full PowerPoint presentation on this

Maybe once they've finished designing all this stuff, they could design some better traditional mech driven road / gravel gruppos at reasonable prices too. Given the amount of R&D that goes into their products, and production costs, their existing gearbox products are incredible value by bike industry standards. I should think one of their top of the range non-E gearboxes costs at least 5x as much to produce as Campag's entire new SR gruppo - which is retailing well north of 5000 euros - 6000 if you want the PM version.

Robot gearboxes you say? I spent 5 years working with Panasonic robots (mostly heavy industry) and it was (often) a lot of fun. Be interesting to hear your experiences. 🙂

Hambini has “beef” with someone you say? Call me incredulous but I find that very hard to believe. 😁

I love these videos, like the old saddle commentaries too

Need more commentary about the motor. Are the magnets surface mounted or imbedded in the laminations. What motor control are they using 6 step commutation or FOC. Are they using hall sensors for position feedback or encoder/resolver. Magnet grade, Steel lamination type...etc

would love to see some more details with the IntraDrive gearbox motor unit, its motor seems more advanced and probably has a simpler gearbox setup inside. From first ride vids of the pinion it seems to have two clunky shifts throughout the 12 speeds, maybe a 3x4 kind of setup inside?

beautiful build, how much would it cost some basic bike with belt drive? Maybe too much for poor...

That looks as large as a traditional mid drive motor. What gives, then? Why would a mid-drive need to be so large (in comparison)? Beefier motor?

Revolutionary, we can only hope that the consumer speaks with their wallet and demands more of this.

really really cool. Did they have any in-bike model units you could test? I'm curious how much better the shifting under load is on this unit compared to the P & C series gearboxes. Does the electric assist play into the fact that you can shift under load, or could the same shifting be applied to a non assist gearbox?

Okay, but when can we get one that holds a five or ten kW motor?

Does the Motor drive assist in input shaft or the output?

The toy motor over there is of course the peak of reliability and well determined extremely long service live. Go buy and throw away after 2 years of usage.

If I’m understanding this correctly, the motor is after the gear box, so it’s more like a hub drive than a mid-drive?

If the battery goes down, can you easily pedal this thing?

0:07 Can the torque and speed sensor be used as a power meter?

IDK but that looks like about the trade of an ounce of gold.
