Congrats on the new Gladiator Mojave! :-)
I had the very SAME "waiting issue" but it was for an "In Transit" 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 ("Plan A") in Sand Dune Metallic color (new for 2021 but not often seen).
Had been ready-to-buy (and looking!) as of February, and put a $1K "hold" on it in very early March. Going on 2 months later, neither the Chevy dealership (John Elway Chevrolet in Englewood, CO), my sales-guy there OR even GM (said they "couldn't") give me any ETA date. So it continued to sit at the GM "Assembly Plant" in Wentzville, MO -- with 20, 000 other "regular" Chevy Colorados (and I'm guessing about 2, 000 ZR2s).
So in Mid-April, with no end in sight as to how much LONGER "my" ZR2 would remain parked (waiting for its missing computer-chips I guess), I bailed on Plan A, got my $1K hold money back, and within 2 days got my 2021 Jeep Gladiator (Rubicon) off a Jeep dealer's lot in a nearby city (none of the Gladiators were suitably-configured on the dealer's lot here in my city). Jeep had plenty of Gladiators on their lots here in Colorado, but Chevy dealers here had NO ZR2s and some didn't even have any "regular" Colorados, either, so it wasn't like I could just go to another dealer and buy a ZR2 off the lot -- there weren't any. And if any even WERE listed on a Chevy dealer's website, they were also marked "In Transit."
Just for "fun, " however, after I got my Gladiator I kept checking the Chevy dealership (Elway Chevrolet) to see JUST WHEN they'd be getting ANY Colorados/ZR2s -- NONE were listed for weeks. They finally did get maybe 2, then 7-10 days later they got "my" ZR2 (recognized the VIN on the listing). WAY too late for me. PLUS, it was $5-6K MORE price-wise than I was going to pay for it back in early March...nor did I see listed the same "incentive" $$$$ (discounts) I had gotten.
I guess the ZR2 just wasn't meant to be...
But I CAN say that the Gladiator ("Plan B") is a very nice "consolation prize" -- even if it DID cost $11-12K MORE than the ZR2 would have.
I was ALSO looking at the Mojave trim of the Gladiator, and if I still lived in West Texas (ELP with all the desert there!) I'd likely have gotten a Mojave, but here in Colorado a Rubicon trim was more "appropriate." ;-)
I'm glad I got mine when I did: Jeep is now also being impacted by chip & materials shortages, and for all brands of auto-makers, might cause 2022 model factory/production delays. Even if not though, and 2022 models are out on time, some "experts" predict prices their prices are going up big-time (seems 2021 prices are also going up even NOW, along with USED car prices, too).
Given all that, I'd say if anyone is looking for a new 2021 vehicle -- let alone a Gladiator -- get it now vs. waiting.
Happy Mojave-ing,
-- BR
