Crews battle large fire in Willoughby at apartment complex

We're following a developing story this morning as multiple fire departments have responded to the scene of an apartment fire on Mentor Avenue in Willoughby.

Willoughby police tell 3News the fire is at the Chagrin Riverwalk Apartments.

A 3News crew at the scene has learned the fire was at a building that's under construction, but a neighboring building also sustained damage.

Evacuees in the area were taken to a Laketran bus for shelter.

Although few additional details have been confirmed, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said the situation is along Mentor Avenue between Erie Street and Kirtland Road.
