From the school year 2008-09, the Second Chance School of Volos is located in the renovated “Mourtzoukou” complex, at the junction of Heironos and Epta Platanion street, in Volos. It opened during the school year 2004-05 and until 2008 it was located in “Pagkyprion” School. The Second Chance School of Volos is a school for adults (people over 18) who have completed the elementary school but they haven’t attended the junior high school or they quitted before the end.

The Second Chance School of Volos is a public school which comes under the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs, through the General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning and it offers a certificate that is equivalent to the junior high school certificate (According to Law 2525/1997, Article 5).
The Second Chance School aims at giving a second chance to people who want to obtain the junior high school certificate. In relation to the typical junior high school, the Second Chance School has three main advantages which facilitate the attendance of the adult learner:
* The courses last two years only.
* There are no exams at the end of the school year or tests.
* The assessment is descriptive (i.e. good, very good, excellent etc.)
