C5 Corvette - SLP Rear Spoiler Issues
Показать описание
I've had an SLP rear spoiler on our car for quite a few years now and since I've had the car painted, it doesn't want to lay down like it should. We can get it installed and looking good but after a few days it wants to start coming up and away from the body on the corners. I'm thinking that when it was removed from the car that it was laid down on a shelf flat and with the Arizona heat it took on another form and straightened itself out a little. So I have a few things I'm going to try and see if I can't get it to reform again.
1 - Put it out in the Arizona sun again only on something that isn't flat and see if it will reform itself again.
2 - Get some epoxy and fill the back side of the spoiler, tap it to the rear bumper cover and let the epoxy set up. It will be a permanent bond to the car and shouldn't come up again.
3 - Fill the back side of the spoiler with some epoxy or puddy so it dries really hard. Put tape on the rear bumper cover really well then set the spoiler on it and tap it all down until it dies to the form of the bumper cover again. Then I will put double sided tape on the spoiler and it will be removable again if needed.
4 - And this is the one I will most likely wind up with. By a new spoiler similar to this one and get it painted to match the car and install that one. I do have one on order but it's obviously not made by SLP because they don't make them anymore.
This SLP spoiler is a highly sought after version and I'd hate to have it ruined and not be usable. If nothing else I will install it on my man-cave rear bumper cover I have hanging on the wall and just glue it down permanently.
If anyone else has any ideas about getting it back to normal without much effort please let me know. I really want this thing to work again.
Thanks for watching......
