Spider-Man 4 Has To Be Great

After Spider-Man: No Way Home, there's so many directions you could take Spider-Man 4. In this video, I talk about the rumors surrounding Justin Lin, Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi.

What do you want to see from Spider-Man 4? And do you want it to star Holland or Maguire?

I don’t know why, but I think in order to make no way homes ending really stick. Peter kinda actually needs to spend a movie all alone, we really need to show what he sacrificed.

Think of the scene from the animated series where Peter talks to the gargoyle, only because he has no one else at this point other than a stone gargoyle to talk to:

What's really worrisome is actually the rumor of Sony and Marvel having conflict because Marvel wants to return Spider-Man to a more ground street level setting and Sony wants another multi-verse movie because the last one made a billion dollars. Sony really has no idea what would work.

Everyone wants a grounded, street level, classic, more serious and adult story with DD and Kingpin. Where Peter feels on his own, as a grown man. Mobster characters like Tombstone. Prowler. Black Cat. Scorpion for good measure. Punisher. Some cameos. That’s it. That’s all we want. Give him an arch that works back in the importance of Peter Parker at the end.

I really hope we get another street level Spider-Man movie like Marvel was pitching. Mj and Ned better not come back with their memories in one movie though.

I definitely agree with what others have already said that it should be lower stakes than NWH and be more of a street level film. They could maybe have Scorpion as the main villain since we've still never gotten a proper resolution to the post credits scene of Homecoming

Bringing back Zendaya would be a horribly calculated misfire that completely undoes one of the best gut-punches from the entire trilogy, and ruin any trust with future emotional stakes.


...so of course Sony's gonna make that happen.

Honestly I hope Sony knows that most of us would be way more hyped to see Spidey interact with Cox’s Daredevil than to watch him see Tobey and Andrew again this early

The funny thing about Joe Johnston is that 'The Nutcracker' is not even really his fault. He was brought on to do reshoots for Lasse Hallestrom, so he was working with a product that was already not in great shape.

It’s not just Spider-Man 4 we need to be great, Deadpool & Wolverine is another movie we also need to be great and succeed too, so we can be guaranteed an R-rated Blade.

I don’t think we’ll have any issue with quality- all of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies have been entertaining in some form. But i definitely think this fourth movie should be more of a solo adventure and less reliant on other heroes or… well other nostalgic versions of Spidey.

The next Spider-Man film needs to be an actual solo film, so no supporting superheroes, no crossover cameos for other Marvel characters, and no plots involving aliens. It needs to be a real street level Spider-Man film like what we got with the Rami films. The story might need to take inspiration from the early Ultimate Spider-Man comics and I whoever they pick for the main villain. I hope it's Kingpin.

I’m going to go the other way and say what I’d like to see in terms of plot.

After No Way Home, Peter has lost his aunt, his friends (and everyone else) don’t know who he is anymore. He’d be struggling with loneliness, lack of support and adjusting to his new circumstances while living on his own.

Enter Felicia Hardy, Black Cat. I think she’d be the perfect antagonist to match up with this Peter. She could be introduced as a potential love interest as Felicia and separately a villain in Black Cat, with them being revealed to be the same person midway through. This makes Peter struggle with doing the right thing in stopping her but subsequently losing his only real connection. Perhaps she could even try to persuade/corrupt him to be a bit more flexible with being a hero.

She fits the theme of the story perfectly and her abilities interacting with Spidey’s would create some captivating action scenes.

Don’t have any other Marvel characters to really focus on the dynamics between them.

I think its also important to note that these newer F&F movies don’t have directors, they have people who are willing to be pushed around by Vin Diesel. I would not count any of these movies as being “his” I think he could absolutely do Spidey justice.

with all the rumors of sony and marvel arguing and they’re trying to push the movie out into 2025 i’m kinda scared but i love tom holland and i’m excited to see him again
