And what if this faraway planet was home to billions of humans, just like Earth? But these "humans" don't look anything like us. Because they're from the future. Could aliens be future versions of humans? How far ahead of us would they be?

That's interesting that ET would be us. There was a made for tv series on the Syfy channel back in 1993 called Official Denial. The two best lines in my opinion in the last episode are "The Future is Unwritten" and "They're not aliens. They're us. From the future "

Their Grey skin indicates that their sun is much closer to the planet - meaning if they are humans they would come from millions of years in the future. Also I think they resemble evolved turtles more than humans.

I have actually thought about that possibility a few years ago.

Aliens could be future humans who are millions, if not billions, of years older than us. Their bodies have evolved in the same way that it has been predicted that our bodies will evolve, such as larger eyes, hair loss, thinner skin, and so on.

What if humans as we know were created in the future by our future ancestors and sent back to populate the past? Maybe humans came from humans, with no actual chronological original. About 25 years ago I suggested this theory to people, what if those UFOs and aliens were actually our own civilization way into the future able to invent a time machine and travel back to present day. Wasn't until now that I heard about it again.

The problem, I think, with future humans coming to the past is that they could could threaten they're own existence by creating a paradox that alters their timeline.

I'm not sure about this either way, but I thought that the typical 'grey' appearance would be a protective suit, and that they large eyes are a part of that suit. Any creature visiting any other planet would need to be weary of disease, viruses and bacteria, so I presume a protective suit would be mandatory. These 'greys' are always depicted as naked, but again, I think that would just have to be their suits. Also, aren't people just hybrids?
