Over the last few years there has been a lot of movement in the world of open source silicon and we now have lots of options to design chips and even a few to get them manufactured. While it's unlikely you'll be beating the supply chain anytime soon, in this talk I'll show you how to get started with simple chip design using free and open source tools.

between zero to ASIC and hack fab the future of open source silicone design and production is looking brighter than id have ever imagined

I love this video. It just really made me so much more interested in electronic engineering as a hobby. For so long I thought this would be an industry only capability. I hope these communities take over!

Great Vid, Still need to finish my course. Trying to get bachelor electrical student to start OSIC design. It is the future.

Minnesota's Skywater foundry mentioned hehe.

The supply chain issue was very heavily constrained by passives (resisters, capacitors, …) … automotive specific mcu, and some low cost fpga variants. But that said… let’s build our own chips!!

Does anyone have a reading list for RF IC design, maybe just a good book?

There is someway to learn or even possibly build VCSEL? ( vertical cavity emitter lasers) Thanks
