Star Trek: Deleted Coverage - The City On The Edge Of Forever - Edith Keeler's Epic Death Scene. In this 'Deleted Coverage' scene from Star Trek (The Original Series - TOS), from the episode, "The City On The Edge Of Forever," Sister Edith Keeler (Joan Collins) is seen preparing to cross the road, to meet her young man (James Kirk), Spock (Leonard Nimoy), and Dr. McCoy (Deforest Kelley), of which, she is surprised that they all know each other. As she crosses the road, she tragically gets hit by a truck, and falls to the ground. Bystanders rush to the body, but she is already gone, as Kirk holds McCoy, and they both witness the death of Edith Keeler. (All of these Star Trek scenes are from The Roddenberry Vault Blu-Ray Set). Enjoy.

Channel Editor's Note: These scenes came with no sound. I edited together several small, deleted coverage scenes from the episode, and added music from the episode, although, I did not have the music from that death scene.

This is part of a new series, here on Mego Star Trek Channel, showcasing 'Deleted Scenes' from The Original Star Trek Television Series.

Regardless of the "spin", it is still one of the saddest scenes in television history.

As Jon Lovitz, the thespian, used to say: "Acting!"

The car barely touched her. It was the drama that killed her.

Glad they kept the camera on Shatner... his reaction was incredibly effective.

That's an amazing stunt actress. Very well done. All the comments might make fun of the spin but we live in a culture of death and that's always all on TV 24/7.

She didn't turn into Wonder Woman after that spin.

Great and really fun to see the whole take. It truly makes you appreciate the excellent editing on the show.

Re-watching the final assembly, and then this again, shows they picked the perfect frame to cut at for the biggest dramatic impact.

The scene as it is in the episode, cutting away at the split-second of impact, is much more effective than actually showing the impact would have been (even without the silly spin). It's likely the NBC censors wouldn't have allowed the hit to be shown anyway and that could be why it was cut.

Joan Collins was asked about her death scene and she said she was more concerned about the stunt girl as she got hurt doing it.

Its amazing you have all these. It's like a peak into the director's mind -- what to cut, what to choose.

I wonder why we don’t hear that great Fred Steiner cue, punctuated by an opening 3-note sting that begins just as Edith begins to cross the street? The music here is from a scene in “the mission” when I believe Spock is serving coffee (or McCoy is ambling toward the mission after emerging from his cordrazine episode).

Yeah that little spin was unessesary I agree with this edit

glad they cut this, she looked pretty silly spinning like that😂

I believe the reason that Edith was killed off was when McCoy arrived the homeless man took his phaser and accidently fired on himself changing that time line

Editing was perfect as we got it. Good choices all through the series. Well, minus a reversed delta or burst zipper here and there.

I don't see what's wrong with this scene. Back in the 1960's pedestrians routinely spun like tops and died when almost hit by automobiles.

Insurance does not allow Joan Collins to walk in front of a moving vintage truck with questionable brakes. So yes, this was a stunt double. She was probably told they'd cut to a CU of the actors, then back to her on the ground, so she did the silly spin.

I can understand why they didn't use this Dorothy in the land of Oz spin.🙄

I wonder who that stunt double was. Surprised we never heard from her again at a convention perhaps. Or maybe it wasn't a double. But I think it was.
