I ask strangers in Brussels, Belgium and many languages they speak. Brussels is the capital of the European Union and a very international city full of polygots - as you will see!

I am Chilean, I lived in Brussels for a year, It happened to me one day that I had to be the interpreter between two Belgians who did not understand each other, one spoke only Duch and english and the other only French, believe it or not

I’m Polish and the little Polish kid said “lubię dupy” which means I like ass and when you asked him what it means he started giggling and showed you waffles 😭😂 waffles in Polish is Gofry pronounced “Goh-frih” 😂

Flemish is not a separate language, it is Dutch as spoken in Belgium. It's like American English vs British English.

As someone from Belgium (French speaking, far from the capital, but still :)), I must say this has been SUPER enjoyable. Some people have a bad image of Brussels for some reasons ... but they are wrong and just watch too much tv / see only the negative sides. I love my country and I love my capital.

Brussels is such an underrated city. I loved my years there, it's one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe, you can meet the whole world here. And you didn't even visited the European neighborhood or Matongé, wich have so many languages variety ! Thanks for the video.

This is very humbling.
I come from England and most people only speak one language there. I now speak French as well because I live in France, and I have a bilingual son, but I am unusual in that.
The notion that people from many other countries routinely speak at least one other language fluently is a shock to most English people.
Respect to all those clever and extremely cosmopolitan people!

From Brussels here, our city may not be the prettiest overall, but I definitely feel it's one of the best atmosphere to live in. Growing up in such a multicultural city makes you much more comfortable and curious about other cultures, because they are the ones of you kindergarten friends rather than something foreign and enigmatic.

I also really like the space here, for a capital city it's definitely not overcrowded, you often see people you know on the streets and it's generally pretty calm in most places, but it definitely doesn't feel empty. Like walking here feels pretty comfortable since the sidewalk is large (unlike in Paris for exemple) and it's not as car reliant as some US cities.

Don't get me wrong, there are still a lot of problems in our city. As I said earlier it's really not the most pretty place in the world, even if some parts are very nice and underrated, it's definitely not a dream post card city. Our transportation network really could be better, the tram and buses are fine but the metro here is a joke, we have essentially two lines numbered 1 to 6 (yes I know) and it doesn't go to most places. It's also not the cleanest or safest city, but I think its bad reputation is very overplayed, if you go nearby I advise you to make your own idea of the city.

Javanese is not a dialect of Bahasa. It's a separate language.

love this video!!🤩🤩. anyway, Javanese isn't dialect of Bahasa Indonesia. It's completely different language, and Javanese is the second most spoken language in Indonesia after bahasa Indonesia.
