The Pros and Cons of Sonlight’s Homeschool Curriculum

Hi! Welcome or welcome back to Learning Compass. In this video I’ll be discussing the pros and cons of Sonlight. I gotta say, I am *biased* towards the pros. I just love Sonlight and how they structure their material from everything I’ve seen. So just a little disclaimer that I’m leaning more towards the pros. However, there’s still topics I discuss within the video that are valid cons with this particular curriculum. It truly depends on what exactly you’re looking for to use. I like many aspects of the versatility of Sonlight’s content, but yet the prices for a full year of learning can be tough to justify. I have used Sonlight for years but have also used other things. The cost is a big factor and I have almost always bought or borrowed used cores. I love much about it, but I also do modify significantly, often in the Bible and missionary stories section of if I just feel like they are a little over the top (I am a Christian and a missionary but am sensitive about how heavy handed or hagiographical things can be).

I will say, my favorite more affordable curriculum that does involve arts and crafts and hands on stuff is the Peaceful Press curriculum.
