It does happen, where you have a misfire with no codes. A code reader would never give you this information !!

Thank you Kenny. Your video gave me a better view on how to diagnose a no code misfire. I am currently having this exact issue on my 1998 Nissan maxima with a 5 speed. I own a scanner as well and up to this point wasn't aware that I could scan for misfires after a drive cycle. Thanks again.

Hey Kenny, how are you? Maybe Ford had a software update for the onboard computer that was never programmed into the vehicle that when done might set the check engine light? I'm just thinking outside of the box on this one. Weird but very interesting! Thank you Kenny for another great video.

Im having the same symptoms with the bam bam bam, i know exactly what you mean. It happens only when driving, and I have no codes. I know it has to be a coil or plug. I installed all new coils, but they were in my trunk for a while. One was out of the box, and I bet it's that one.

I’ve got a Taurus with the 3.5 in it. Forscan says 1% to throw a code. It’s mostly on a grade but the rpm’s surge and the vehicle shudders and definitively power loss. Misfire count on three cylinders are only a handful. Throws no codes. Trying to swap pack to cylinder with no misfires. Anyways. Definitely a thing that happens and it is frustrating.

I used a cheap as chips Bluetooth OBDII scanner, and an app simply called "car scanner" on my Nokia X30 Android phone (no expensive scanner needed), and found misfires on cylinder 2 and 4.
No check engine light for me either, and it only happens when engine is near/at operating temperature.
2013 Chevy Trax 1.4 Turbo
Going to check plugs and maybe move them around, to see if the problem moves.

Kenny, my car was running a bit rough and lagged on power I had an ignition coil I replaced and now my car runs smooth and gets up and goes. Just wondering how to tell based on spark is an ignition coil bad. Just by looking at the physical spark with a spark tester.

Figured it was a coil, a boot causing intermittent tracking, or a bad plug based on your analysis.

What about a misfire code on several cylinders but if the misfire monitor is ran it will never show a misfire. The misfire count pod is counting misfires but never shows on the test.

Time delay of 3 to 5 secs on the sensor. Its not going to show it. Your vehicle will still drive till the warrenty is out. Sounds or vibrations are not covered by warranty or extended coverage. You have to have bad part. No guessing allowed. You got a lemon.. 😂 dealership will send you packing. Sell it to them real cheap. They'll give you a deal on a new vehicle.
