A6400 + 16-50 pancake lens is a powerful camera in a very compact size and weight which keeps a low profile look against theft. Especially here in the Philippines where snatchers and holduppers are always on a lookout for any camera guy with bulky camera bodies and lenses. An A6400 looks like an ordinary digicam if you compare it with the size and looks of A7iii. Adding an 18-135mm kit lens which I already have for my A6000 is still travel-friendly. So yes I might upgrade to A6400 anytime soon. If I'll make a leap I will start building my A7iii system next year because of 693 phase-detect AF points and 425 contrast-detect AF points (compared to 425 phase/ contrast detect AF of A6400) and low light shooting advantages. But I definitely will skip A6600 for the lack of built in flash if I just want to travel light and do selfies. A6000 + built in flash with the pancake lens provides adequate metering and exposure in low light, so I just think the A6400 will be just an awesome upgrade. So for me it's either A6400 or A7iii, no more no less.

I already have the a7iii with the 24-70 gmaster set up and it does get a little heavy on long trips so the a6600 with the 15-55 g lens will be a whole pound lighter. Also started to get into vlogging and having that flip out screen will be helpful.

I use a6400 and reason I bought a6400 is the size. I just wanted something small but it has everything in it.
I need camera to take everywhere and a6400 was perfect. So people who will buy a6600 I think one reason will be a size.

I have the 6600 with the 16mm and 56mm sigma lenses and oh lord was it worth every penny! Your video made me even more satisfied that I spent the extra buck on the 6600 instead of getting the 6400! This comparison video made it even more easier to realize I made the right decision thank you!(:

Flip out screen is very much important in my case, even i already have a dedicated top shoe monitor for it. When going outdoor i will be packing lite. That is why i havent move to fullframe sony yet but all my lenses are already full frame because im waiting for a fullframe A7 series with a flipout screen 😔 *talking about you sony A7s M3

A reason to go for the 6600 instead A7iii? So damn smaller! I spent more money for a chiropractor than what I earned from a shooting

At this point I’m dreading the A6600 coming out, because I still don’t know whether to go for the 6600 or the A7III...
Sure, full frame would be great, but no flip up screen (which I need), heavier, and recording limit (as far as I’m aware). Screen and recording limit are no-gos for me so as much as I would like to get a full frame, I don’t think that’s going to happen, so A6600 it is. (maybe...)

Bro you are great in this review, what I liked about it is that you gave your opinion and not just quoted numbers and specs. I think I will get the a6400 because it has all that the a6600 has for a good image. IBIS on Sony is not great, the bigger battery is good but not a decider, the headphone is good but not a deal breaker especially the way higher pricing for these features. Thanks

1st of all this must be the best comparison video I've seen for the tree cameras. The repetitive "Of all" the goes on for the entire video was kinda annoying though. Sorry man I'm not here to bash you. Great work

I bought the a6600 because I didn't know jack diddly about cameras and figured $1400 put me in the high end for quality pictures. APS-C? What's that? Now...after having it for a bit and learning way more then I did in the beginning, I'm even more pleased with it mainly for it's video quality and no-limit video capabilities plus it's a bad ass "little" camera but now I'm drooling over a full frame a7RIIIA for landscape photography.

beautifully explained... most videos lack these days proper explanation with author's view point.. a73 is for professionals.. im just starting out.. and this is not my full time profession..

My reason for looking at the 6000 series over the A7iii is because I am filming my hunts and will be utilizing the 18-105 PZ lens with a lanc remote for self filming whitetail deer coming in. This lens is the actual reason for staying with the a6000 series. I am new into this so if I am missing something please comment before I make this purchase.

I’m upgrading from RX100. And though I love the cam for point & shoot purposes, I need more professional shots for my projects. I’m confused which one to choose between A6100, A6400 & the new ZV-E10.
I mostly do Travel & Architectural photography. I work as an Architect & I mostly shoot projects including interiors & I sometimes do walkthru videos of my projects of before & after construction/renovation projects for real estate purposes only. I’m not a vlogger but a nice video capability would benefit me as well. But I do mostly still photos.
Which one can you recommend? Thanks!

I’m going for 66000 yes I want full frame but I don’t have extra money for a full frame camera.... it’s not point of buying full frame. Plus I can buy a dope lens with a Sony 6600 and I’ll be fine. Sony 6600 fits my pocket range.

So, if I am trying to buy one, which one should I get if I can afford one over the other : a6400 or 6100? Your thoughts please!!!

Appreciate you breaking down the differences between these cameras.
I’m looking for the best mirrorless or DSLR for around $1200 or less (body only) to record my nieces. One is a gymnast and the other does local community theater. I will be purchasing a 70-200mm f2.8 lens for whatever body I choose as well. I’m looking for eye autofocus that functions in 4k. Some have suggested Sony a6600 (I’m a little concerned about the rolling shutter) others have suggested Canon M6 Mark ii (some have said eye autofocus doesn’t work in 4k) Any help from other viewers would also be appreciated.
