This is the most level headed i have heard Rory speak of Arsenal football club. Must be his new years resolution.

Two seasons ago, Arsenal were playing brilliant attacking football and they had a perfectly balanced midfield and they didn’t have any issues scoring goals. They’re defence was also rock solid too. By March 2023, they were 8 points clear at the top. Then Salibas injury occured and Arsenals whole back line fell apart and as a result, that scarred Arteta forever and he kept focusing on defending and playing not to lose rather and relying on set pieces.

What's killing them is they convinced themselves that their previous 2 seasons were the norm, all players firing and minimal injuries. Ontop of that this is the 1st time City has slipped up, they thought that would mean it's their title but Liverpool, with an improved midfield and greater defensive stability are playing at a normal Man City pace and thus look favourites to win this year. And be real here, it could be another 5-6 years before City slip up like this again. Arsenal fans are just starting to learn what Liverpool did. They lost 2 titles by a single point with FAR greater totals than Arsenal have yet achieved.
It's fine margins at the very top.

Adam made a great point, ''once City fall off the league is theirs'', and it isn't. Constant moving goal posts and revisionism, there's always an excuse.
Last 2 seasons Rory: ''Arsenals starting 11 is better than Liverpools starting 11, Arsenal will win the league'', and now it's ''the squad isn't good enough to compete with Liverpools'' even though Slot has 0 new signings.

As a neutral, Arsenal should have been primed to slip past City as they stumbled. Instead, they have gone quiet, dropping points and have been creatively poor.

It looks to me that Arteta, similarly to Pep, his former mentor, likes to keep his team quite small and tight. He doesn't rotate his favs or players he trusts much. And despite most ppl seeing the one glaring gap, he has resisted for 3 seasons an acknowledged striker. And now, teams around them have continued to grow and refresh, and his Arsenal team haven't much.

Issue is they are playing with essentially 6 defensive players with the CB's full back being essentially CB's and partey with rice

Arteta has reached his ceiling. He can’t get Arsenal over the finish line and it’s time for him to go.

It was clear from the start of the season that we lack creativity in this team. Odegaard is our only true attacking midfielder (bar maybe Nwaneri), selling ESR and loaning Viera felt strange at the time but even more so now.
Saka is our only truly creative winger, Martinelli and Trossard simply aren't consistent enough. Dont even need to mention our strikers.
Honestly id be happy with finishing in the top 4 and nothing more this season, IF in the summer we sign a back up to Ode, an exciting LW and a world class striker. If we do that, i find it hard to picture many weaknesses in our team. It is a very big IF though..

1) over coaching players and being so rigid when attacking.

2) buying “versatile” players who can play in a few positions but never a master of any one position.

3) buying very similar players like lanky/tall and not the quickest. We need some quick tekky players.

4) never buying an elite goal scoring CF since Auba left.

Think players are beginning to have enough of him and he is slowly losing the dressing room.

Manchester United have offered a loan + £34M obligation to buy for Gonçalo Inácio. His agent was in England to hold talks with the club this week

The biggest failure in the transfer market of last summer was by arsenal.
Victor Osimhen was available to be loaned with the option to buy/first refusal.
Is Osimhen that guy who can lead a premier league contender, I don’t know but that had the chance to find out with him on loan.
Massive mistake.

football moves so fast nowadays. as a resident arsenal boy you couldn’t tell me anything that would make me believe he should be sacked. we’ve been off the boil this season but he’s brought us incredibly far at a time when we thought we might be looking at mid table finishes. i agree he needs some silverware this season but i’m not going to throw my toys out the pram if not. he’s got the keys and i can’t reason with anyone who sees otherwise. also, who on earth could we possibly get instead?!🤣 good convo this was from you boys xx

Arteta reminds of Southgate, just struggling to get over the line and win something. At least when Liverpool had Klopp they were giving it their best and had high energy to try even when they lost. Arsenal don't even try

I dont think Ode is genuine world class. Is good at doing 5, 10 yard passes without being creative or dominate. He needs to start really hurting the opposition more and start scoring more also. He should be looking at 10-15 goals and assist consistently

last year they had no big injuries, 10 minute video in one sentence ey

Arsenal should be moving the ball much faster

Go and get Ivan Toney!! That massive price tag was because Brentford didn't want to sell him to a rival club in their league. Different situation now.

No one is getting Isak out of Newcastle. He's priceless. I think Newcastle have got more chance of getting Saka out of Arsenal than they have of getting Isak off

Rory bang on here for once, letting go of Viera and ESR was crazy moves without replacements.

Think it’s relatively simple in that we’ve not had Odegaard for 2 months and not got Saka now. Look at Liverpool when the lost van dijk and look at City when they’ve lost Rodri. It’s very hard to win the league without your best players
