Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Review - 1 Year Later

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is widely regarded by many as the smartphone of the year. But does the Galaxy S24 Ultra really deserve that title, or are we giving it too much credit? In this review, I’ll walk you through everything I liked and disliked about the Galaxy S24 Ultra after using it almost daily for nearly a year. Plus, I’ll share how Samsung is improving things with the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra.

I have my S24 for a few weeks, and man, it's such a nice upgrade from my 4 year old Note 20 ultra and i'm not upgrading anytime soon. Samsung Nailed it 😄❤

I'm happy with the phone especially battery life and performance except for the cameras. They are not bad and they have improved with the updates but I think they should still be better. I was hoping to see 5X / 10X optical zoom for the S25 Ultra but not happening sadly. Happy New Year mate. Stay safe.

I have S23 Ultra and I am going to keep it for at least a year. One phone carrier in the US is testing direct satelite connection with starlink, so in 2025 it can be available for many older phones. Other improvements are not breath taking so this is why I will keep my S23 Ultra. Happy New Year🎇

The S24 Ultra is the best well rounded phone of 2024. The things that I like are One UI, S-Pen, anti-reflective display, performance, and the video quality. One UI is still the best Android skin in my opinion and the anti-reflective display is underrated. Even though this phone is well rounded, it is not my phone of the year due to the cameras and battery tech. Now you maybe thinking; "You just praised the video quality, why are you criticising the cameras?" While the video quality has been excellent, I cannot say the same for photos. The photo quality has been inconsistant despite numerous updates. As someone who likes to take photos in RAW format at higher megapixel counts, this is where it falls short. The 24 MP mode is not bad, but the processing needs some fine tuning. I don't like the fact that the 24 MP mode is limited to the main camera. Not having it at 5x zoom is a missed opportunity. The 50 MP mode is complete garbage. The photos look crunchy and way too oversharpened. I hope Samsung can improve this with the S25 Ultra. In addition, many people are still complaining about shutter lag and it needs to be addressed. The 200 MP mofe has potential, but Samsung needs to work on the processing in order to produce more consistant results. As for the battery tech, it's time that Samsung uses a larger battery and increase the charging speeds. Once you use a phone with faster charging, it is hard to go back. Other than fact, the S24 Ultra has been a good phone. I hope the S25 Ultra can improve the camera processing and shutter lag.

I love my S24 Ultra. I bought it the week it came out and after a full year it still performs like new. Definitely a keeper!

I could care less about the charging. My s24 ultra last me a lot during the day and at work. Besides the gaming, I use the phone a LOT. Dex, camera, spen have been through a lot. And about the screen, I use a matt screen protector which deflects the light, gives me privacy, and protects the screen at the same time.
