When talking about images I like complex designs. Not necessarily complex in the way the image looks but more in the way of what I want the image to say. That's why I try to keep my image designs simple yet complex.

Funny, I was just discussing game design with Keith Burgun on reddit and I think we have some profound disagreements about design. According to him, video games that lack goals and let the player "play designer" by choosing their own goals are less optimal (because a professional designer is better at design than a player), and as such "toys" (as he calls them) have inherently less value to the adult mind. What do you think about this? Does good design take away the burden of choice?

As someone who loves the KISS-principle, I think there are plenty of things out there that contain unnecessary features, even if you can't see them. Call it overengineering or "feature-creep". I've seen plenty of examples in my live and there are thousands of programmers out there that develop minimalistic applications to get rid of the whole feature creep. Look at the website of suckless or at browsers like dwb or midori. Look at the UNIX-Design principles and look closer to the software you use on a daily basis. Is there any good reason for an anti-virus software to have a gmail- and facebook-integration? No. Not at all.
