My Land Rover has a 'sunroof' and a 'moonroof' that doesn't open and is shielded by a thin piece of 'blind' and in the summer months of Japan, it does nothing but heat the interior to ridiculous temperatures. All sunroofs should either open or not exist. Pointless. To be honest, I most impressed with the rear smartphone holders than I was with that sunroof that does nothing but add excessive cost to the vehicle and make it a sun/heat trap. To sum it up in one word: gimmick.

A fixed glass roof is so detrimental for a vehicle. It's extra weight, more expensive to replace if it cracks and most manufacturers don't have a shade inclusion.

If you're going to give me a glass roof, make it an actual opening sun roof that has a shade that blocks out light, not filter it. Otherwise, give me a metal/carbon fiber roof.
