I made K34 today following this growth plan. Something that helped along the way (and now will continue to do so) was making my main sub city Epic. This allows me to get the appropriate bonus when needed by simply changing cultures. And yes, I spent the 2.5M gems during the appropriate consuming event. Also, all but one of my subs are European to further reduce my construction time.

K35 is not far off (2 months or so). Then I can really get to work on developing the rest of my buildings and training the proper effective troops (and not simply train useless troops which simply makes me bloated).

Most of your tips are good. A seemingly obvious one you didn't mention was leaving your truce agreements/bubbles up to prevent you from being attacked and having your resources plundered. Which is also the problem with gathering resources when you are asleep or otherwise inactive as you leave yourself vulnerable to other players attacking them. It's happened to me on multiple occasions. Also is there a minimum level of power you recommend reaching before participating in server wars? They can obviously help with your growth but at the same time, they can slow it down dramatically if you are constantly attacked and plundered.

I would say research stones are way bigger limiting factor for research progress than gold. Doing adv. military can easily drive you nuts with requirements of 1500+ research stones per one level of research on higher levels. Vikings appear to be insufficient source of those, senior hydras are better but still there are always a periods of time when there’s nothing else can be done but waiting
