Affluent Indians eat in between meals, use a lot of refined sugar and industrial grade cheap nut and seed oils for cooking.
1. Cut out white sugar completely
2. Use ghee, coconut oil and or olive oil instead of PUFAs.
3. Supplement with fish oil to get 3g EPA and DHA daily. This is good for the heart, circulation and the brain.
4. Walk or run for 30 min, each day high intensity intervals.
5. Fast for 16 hrs and eat only 2 meals per day. Jains traditionally eat only during daylight hours.
6. It was customary for Indians to avoid eating solid foods 1 day per week.

Thank you. This is a shockingly informative talk about anthropology and colonisation on modern health outcomes. More south Asians need to see it

Thank you, Dr. Syed, for this insight into how our history can determine our health trajectory. We often talk about the sins of slavery and discrimination, and how that can drastically shape the intellectual, academic and financial mobility of affected groups. Seldom is the generational ramifications of nutritional deficiencies spoken about, and how such deprivation could be a major contributing factor as to why certain populations are now more predisposed to certain maladies than others.

This was very informative on a topic I have always wondered about, i.e. the typical uncle and auntie body type. And at the same time so angering on the colonialist history and impacts still felt today
