Love your vlogs and your garden/weeding tools! Thank you for your informative vlogs on vegetable growing. My father was a dutch immigrant to New Zealand 75 years ago. Hard working and industrious he worked various jobs. Lived off an oily rag, purchased a little land, grew vegetables sold them, eventually buying more land. Married had children diversified into poultry farm and market gardens. Us kids spent many happy, summer holidays taking out the laterals on tomato plants and stringing up. Even back then we knew that disease could jump from the ground to the plants and lower leaves were never allowed to touch the ground. Hygiene was paramount. We had to clear up all the laterals and burnt them or buried them off site. We had no shears but if you snap the laterals between thumb and fore finger you can get a clean break. Momma had a natural Italian madeup sticky substance (honey/ willow bark/turmeric and something else baking soda could be epsom salts)? Not sure) she made it up herself from a recipe from nonna we called it dobbo it tasted great and dabbed on the break where the lateral was. Dobbo cleaned our hands good after lateralling too. I remember cod liver oil, seaweed and epsom salts were used for foliar feed, as well as ground feed. Chicken manure was used on all crops. We always rotated crops each year. Alot of time was spent weeding and cleaning. We each had 2 rows of 50metre long tomatoes to keep clean and maintain. We each had a self regulated strict schedule and gained 50% of the turnover. Competition amongst us siblings was intense on who could get the most yield. It was fun getting up at crack of dawn to work b4 school. We let out all the chickens in morn they spent all day pecking in the field next to the market garden. They spent all their time trying to get into the veges and peck them. The greater tomato yield more cash in pocket. Strawberries were another big summer crop. We sold direct to the public from our farm shop. Skills learnt at home doing this work set us all up for life.

I bassed in the most southern tip of Africa and just had to prune my tomatoes for the first time this season, to be honest I have never farmed before and this is a first in my life.

Hello, I have one beefsteak plant in what I believe is a five gallon container. I've never grown produce and was having trouble "getting it" when I read about or listened about the pruning process. I resorted to Google for some "pruning tomato plants videos." Watching you show it and tell it helped me "get it." Yaaay! A person in Chicago showed and told about pruning them in containers. This video is so understandable as was hers . Thank you!

Your videos are always so packed with the best information. We use pretty much the same trellising method, but this technique fills in some important gaps in our knowledge, There are so many take aways, but keeping only the main stalk and pruning so much of the bottom makes a lot of sense. Thank you, Moreno!

I started pruning my tomatoes a lot more this year. They are doing really great, probably because it is less likely for them to get disease. I grow them outside, can't afford a green house, since I grow them for myself, so I'm using stakes to keep them up. I have long metal clothlines (old house) so I can tie them from the lines if they start getting too heavy. Still a fan of this channel.

I am a very visual learner. Thank you very much for the step by step instructions and accompanying actions. I've read these instructions before, and other videos talk about it but don't show the actions. This is going to be a great help to me this season. 😁👍🏽
