Best war movie about the political side I have ever seen. Just finished it and it was amazing. The tension and stakes is high. Not only that but it is very relatable. You can understand what Unamuno feel when he is in a situation where he has to make one of the hardest choice of his life. Stay silence and turn a blind eye or speak out and be brave no matter what happen. It is just truly amazing. 12/10 for this film.

In case you didn't know the man making the speech saying "you will win because you are strong but you won't convince..." is Miguel de Unamuno a very famous Spanish writer during the beginning of the 20th century, when he made that speech he was living his final years as the rector (or teacher?) of the university of Salamanca (the city shown in the video) after a period where he initally had sided with Franc9

It is a good movie. It is a total complaint about war. No matter for who you were fighting for. War is war, a bad act that divides people, and a civil war the worst of wars.

It is a movie about the great Spanish writer Miguel de Unamuno who almost won Nobel prize for literature and his last days of life. And his true friendship with two people who were killed for nothing, without a trial - a protestant priest and a fellow writer. War, violence, brutality and killings are a stage for his moral and life dilemmas. Unamuno is one of the greatest people in the history of mankind and the Spanish giant.

As a Spaniard I can say that every Spanish family had a death in this war, and the saddest thing, sometimes there were several deaths in the same family that fought on different sides, brothers literally killing each other.

This movie is not about ideology at all, if anything it's a background for the story, it's about Miguel Unamuno, a man who had a very sad ending dying in reclusion and ostracized from society for his view and philosophy on the conflict.
In anyway all of you in the comment glorifying or denigrating both side need to expand your view a bit it's not all black and white and certainly not in a civil war where a myriad of political party are involved.
