Join us in this China Travel video as we visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest Buddha in the world as well as the Oriental Buddha Capital a unique cave system filled with carved Buddha statues.

We start our day very early with breakfast in our hotel, the Crowne Plaza Chengdu City Centre before getting a taxi to Chengdu Train Station.

We board a high speed train to Leshan, today we are travelling in First Class and the journey time is just under one hour.

We arrive at Leshan and get a taxi to the Leshan Buddha.

The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-metre tall stone statue, built between 713 and 803. It is carved out of a cliff face that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan Province in China, near the city of Leshan, China.

We spend all morning at the Leshan Buddha and even climbed down to the steps to stand at the feet of the buddha, after a very long wait.

We then go to the Oriental Buddha Capital.
Open to public in 1994, Oriental Buddha Capital is only 1km from Leshan Giant Buddha. Covering an area of over 20,000 m2, Oriental Buddha Capital is a stone carving theme park, which combines religious art, sculpture art and garden art together. The park has modeled over 3000 Buddha statues with different materials, including rock, bronze, clay and jade. The whole park represents the art style of Chinese Buddhism and Southeast Asia Buddhism. The park has a 170-meter-long sleeping Buddha statue, which is the largest and longest sleeping Buddha statue in the world.

We then leave the Leshan Scenic Area and get a taxi to the station and then a train back to Chengdu.

In Chengdu we get to experience an authentic Hot Pot for the first time before settling in for the night back at our hotel.

for the hot pot, actually I noticed you didn't use the sauce, the sauce is the key and soul of the hot pot. usually you need DIY the sauce by yourself. e.g. put spring onion, ginger juice, garlic juice, coriander, sesame juice, sesame oil, chili oil, pepper, vinegar, soy sauce, etc together. when you pick up the food from hot pot, you need put the food into the sauce first before eat, it make the food more tasty.
BTW, in China, if the food or hot pot is too spicy, you can always order the rice or noodle, when you eat rice with the spicy food, you will feel much better.

I also had bad experiences in Leshan because it was always crowded there and very tiring climbing up and down the stairs. But walking around the Buddha’s giant feet and looking at the Buddha’s head from there is an unforgettable memory though.

Impressive, the dad is very positive even given so many unexpected things on the trip bad or good. That is the attitude going to influence the children in their future. Kudos to you.

When you're in China, it really builds your patience. The patience to wait in long queues (or choose not to), to endure the cacophony that comes with a large amount of domestic tourists even in sacred and holy places like Mt Emei, etc. I've been to China few times and it's easier for me since I'm from SE Asia. Domestic tourism has taken off spectacularly since a couple of decades ago when the middle class grew and still growing. I mean China has almost any type of landscapes to travel to because it spans across different latitudes. You just need to know how to go, which entrance to go, what time to go (to escape most of the crowd), what time of the year to avoid China altogether (eg their chinese new year and national day) and lastly but most importantly, a huge deal of patience because almost anywhere u travel in China, there will be a lot of people. So do your research online and for me, I read Lonely Planet before I visit each country for the above things I have mentioned. Happy travel.

The dad is a perfectionist! But things often go out of expectations. Traveling is not only expensive but also strenuous! Hopefully don't let kids over exhausted. The Dad chose a smart travel route. 桂林山水甲天下Guilin's scenery is the best in the world. Look forward to watching your next episode!!❤❤

Hot Pot is very good value in a private dining room for what you ordered for 3 people. A lot of meat and veggies plus 3 different kinds of soup bases and drinks. I just came back from Europe, restaurant prices are crazy

What a very good father! The two children are a bit shy, perhaps you should let them participate more in commenting and discussing. The children's viewpoints must be very interesting. Thank you for taking us on a tour of China. It was very objective and three-dimensional.

In China, PEOPLE WATCHING is more apt description than visiting most popular tourist attractions.

Another lesson about visiting China.

Try to avoid getting food, drink or snack inside any attraction sites. Generally they are highly expensive. Bring one's own drinks and snacks especially.

Eateries away from tourist sites even in busy CBD are always much cheaper for meals that are far better in quality and variety.

However many of these sites, eg Leshan Buddha is a sort of must do site.

Thanks for another very well done video about China.

What a video! It’s my first time watching your channel. II enjoyed it very much. Your children are awesome, no complaints about the wait nor walking too much. I really love that you quote prices for everything as it’s important for budgeting the trip, the wait time, travel time, etc. I shall subscribe to your channel. Thanks for making such a good video and sharing! Enjoy your trip and thanks again from Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦

You may just have travelled on a Chinese holiday with lots of travellers. Next time you can go to some old Sichuan food restaurant like ChenMaPo to taste authentic Sichuan cuisines, like KongPao Chicken, MaPo toufu.

I had been to Leshan big Buddha twice, the first being in 1986 and then may be twenty years later I took my wife with me. It was not many tourists then and no big cave with lots of carvings, must be fairly new! Surprised there wasn't air conditioning in the restaurant private room! Thanks.
