Let's dive into the world of Psychiatry resident as a psychiatrist as I react to Adolescence the current number 1 show on Netflix. Episode 3 being a standout episode. Erin Doherty plays, a Clinical Psychologist tasked with interviewing Jamie (played by Owen Cooper) for his trial. Her actions in this scene closely mirror real-life clinical psychiatry practice. As a Psychiatry Resident Doctor I break down what the psychologist and patient is doing in this scene.

I discuss key psychiatry practices, safety measures, and methods of patient interaction. I delve into the challenges doctors face when dealing with patients exhibiting certain mental health conditions, ultimately diagnosing the character from the show. This video is a deep dive into real-life psychiatry residency experience and offers invaluable tips for medical students and future psychiatry residents.

Ok. 🤔 Jaimy seemed to have developed a belief that he wasnt getting enough respect and support at home so he turned to his peers. The only time he needs his dad is to play ref with other adults.

The incel thing came up when he tried using women for status. Being thought of as ugly didn't help. Instead of thinking how best to connect with them, he turned to anger. Why were they denying him? Why did his friends have girls? Once he had a girl he could tell his friends what level he had reached. Very immature.

If only he could have dealt with his rage rather than find an easy target, if he could have felt good about one adult in his life..IDK. However, its disturbing that the parents put it all on themselves. He had already checked out long before this happened. How could they have reached him?

They say he was supposed to be black. That's a different culture to many. A white guy was relateable. And wouldnt it be worse for a black kid? I have a feeling you could apply this to high school terrorists here in America.

Most parents didn't know their kid could really do this. Would they have been able to stop it?

I wish we could have had that court psychologist give her report to the parents but I guess they could have read it. Never mentioned. Would have helped.
