Hydraulic homemade tractor walkaround

A couple of things I neglected to mention in the video;
-I used geroler motors. I had tried external-gear, gerolers have much better starting characteristics
-The spool valve incorporates flow control and a relief valve
-Starting torque is pretty good, no problem spinning the tires, even at low engine rpm.
-I installed disk brakes in the rear, the lever on the left is a drift car brake control accessory. Once I switched to geroler motors, the hydraulic braking improved dramatically, so I don't use the brakes much.
-One design goal was to be able to stand up while operating the tractor. This was achieved exclusively using hand controls, which works OK.

Can you explain the way you mounted the motors and what motors you used to drive each differential, please? Or how about another video explaining this?

are you going to add a front end loader and a 3pt on rear?? i got a old trencher converted to a mini version of your tractor and its very handy even with a bad designed loader on front

Your breather was loose from the intake pipe. I thought it looked like an old Army genset.

Nice work, but your middle point is far too weak. You should have used a more proven way like you see in small bulldozers.

Cool! The articulation is not really needed on a short wheel base machine. Why in the world are brand new, $20K-500K tractors using 1910 technology? There is no longer any reason to cast the axle housing, gear box, differential, hydraulics, and clutch inside a massive steel casting. They need to stop that, and make modular tractors more like yours. Think "quad" technology. I think quads are fast moving toward replacing these cast steel antiques with little notice from most of us. s/ X-Kubota owner.

A little springy in the center pivot, yes. One insight I got out of driving this was that the center pivot only allows so much turning, not 90 degrees as designed. This is because the whole vehicle gets very unstable at tight angles

Could you adapt this to remote controls?

Looks great. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎

Sounds like someone's rooster needs its head removed before making the next video.

What size motors and pump did you use?

Yes, Teledyne and others built this motor, mine has a Wisconsin nameplate. I've added a VW carb since this video, much better low end response.
