Samsung's Galaxy S23+ comes with the same camera setup as the previous model, the S22+. However, there is an improvement in the front-facing camera, which now boasts a 12MP sensor instead of 10MP. The primary camera is a 50MP sensor, based on the Samsung S5KGN3 1/1.57" sensor with 1.0µm pixels and a Tetracell filter. This sensor sits behind an f/1.8 optically stabilized (OIS) lens and has Dual Pixel autofocus. The telephoto camera uses a 10MP Samsung S5K3K1 sensor with an f/2.4 optically stabilized (OIS) lens and PDAF. The ultrawide camera uses a 12MP Sony IMX564 sensor with an f/2.2 lens and fixed focus at infinity.

The camera app is standard for Samsung phones, with swiping left and right switching between available modes. Vertical swipes switch between front and rear cameras. The viewfinder has three zoom shortcuts (.6x, 1x, 3x), with additional zoom levels (2x, 10x, 20x, 30x) revealed upon tapping. The full resolution mode on the primary camera is triggered from the aspect options, and the settings icon is located in the upper left corner of the screen. The selfie camera offers two zoom modes, wide and standard (cropped), with both supporting Night Mode and Auto Night Mode.

The Galaxy S23+ main camera captures exceptional stills, with great detail and dynamic range. Colors are vibrant and natural. Some minor faults include softness on certain surfaces like grass and sky and harsh sharpening on straight lines, angles, and geometrical shapes. The 10MP, 3x telephoto camera saves photos in exactly 12MP, which means there is upscaling at play. However, it still produces excellent quality shots. The ultrawide camera captures great photos of non-human subjects, but it requires patience and careful focus.

The Pro mode offers granular exposure controls, manual focus with peaking, and up to 30s shutter speed control for all cameras. Expert RAW mode is also available as a separate app from the Galaxy Store, offering full manual control and the ability to retain both the built-in camera app's multi-frame processing and the raw image data for further edits. The DNG files from Expert RAW can be edited in Lightroom Mobile, making it possible to play with color and dynamic range to a much greater extent than with default jpeg or heic files.

In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy S23+ camera is an excellent addition to the Galaxy series, with flagship-grade stills and a solid camera app. The improvements in the front-facing camera and the Expert RAW mode add value to an already great camera setup.

Camera is just not good enough. Comparing it side by side to my old p30pro and it gets beated by miles. Night photos are just as bad as on mid range phones. Really disappointing thing because the battery time is stunning and I thought I finally found well balanced phone, fast, good battery time and great cameras.
I send it back and I will keep my p30pro until I find perfect match.
Ther was no big difference between both. Yes, s23 plus is slightly faster but not comfortable to hold and the main camera is a joke. Never more samsung...
