The orchestration on all his production made his sound mystical. When it comes to contemporary artists, I've always believed one has to study the classics to make good music. This even rang true for Quincy back in the day. You can clearly hear how his jazz and big-band origins influenced his soul, funk, and disco productions.

Mr. Quincy Jones' singularly prolific contributions and collaborative influences have made an indelible imprint on American music. If my memory serves me at this early hour, I believe he was a recipient of the Gershwin Prize and his works were inducted into the United States Library of Congress, a highly significant honor, indeed. Of his massive discography, my all time favorite album is "Body Heat", (circa 1974?). Also, I heard Ms. Whoopie Goldberg announce he will receive posthumous recognition for lifetime achievement and contribution at next year's Academy Awards. "Q" stood for Quality; a credo that is well represented by Mr. Melvo Baptiste and the Glitterbox Crew every week.
