Interesting video. Ultimately the proof will be in the pudding. Are you stronger than most people of your gender and size you run into? Are you doing this in your 90s? In old age are you able to do all those things you want to do (pick up great grandkids, garden, lend a hand in church, etc). For that kettlebells, barbells, dumbells, bands, machines, etc, are a tool to help us get there. There's nothing intrinsically better about any. They're all in service of life. They get us where we want to be more quickly or slowly, with more or fewer injuries.

One thing I love about KBs is the imbalances you get when you work only one side at a time, which really works your core to the max! Because the KB is only on one side of your body, your core really has to fire in order to compensate. Six pack abs are on my way!

Emma, thank you for great information on kettlebells, it was great. I recently bought some kettlebells and planned to use them to strengthen my posterior chain (hamstrings, glutes, muscles around spine). After doing kettlebell swings, deadlifts and goblet squats and a few other kettle bell movements, for the last two weeks, my low back pain has disappeared and my core feels much stronger. I have been training in gyms for years, but I think the exercise equipment is so muscle specific, that you never strengthen your core. I have been doing the high intensity interval training and have become a big fan of kettlebells even though I have plenty of dumbbells.

Very interesting. I currently have a Bowflex adjustable kettlebell that served me well but the 40 pounds limit is now too light for swings.

I would have to buy a new kettlebell. Would you recommend going for a 45 pounds or a 50 pounds kettlebell? I feel like 5 lbs might not be worth it since I'll outgrow it too fast.

Hiii. I just want to ask, is it good to have both dumbbell and kettlebell as a beginner or should I just focus on one?

Personally I prefer dumbbells over kettlebells because kettlebells feel extremely uncomfortable to use in comparison because the weight isn't straight down on your hands and I don't like how it pushes on the back of your forearms and I'm sure you can get a good workout and increase your Fitness and help with sports and all that using kettlebells but I believe dumbbells are superior because they isolate the muscles much more instead of swinging and cheating to get the weight up which is what kettlebells are all about basically so everyone just has their own beliefs and opinions but I believe dumbbells can build more muscle in comparison because they just simply isolate the muscles much better and they're much better for like the chest and arms where kettlebells basically are just really beneficial for the lower back, glutes and somewhat for the shoulders but I have yet to see any kettlebell exclusive users build big chests and big arms like what a bodybuilder wants and I know your overall Body Fitness is important but I've hardly seen any kettlebell users that have really attractive bodies like what I want compared to people that use barbells and dumbbells which are endless and basically every single great bodybuilding Champion throughout history until now used barbells and dumbbells almost exclusively and not really much of anything else including kettlebells.

I never thought I would like strength training. I am dancing and would usualy gravitate towards pilates or yoga to build up flexibility and strength. Though after an injury I was instructed on Kettlebell training in physiotherapy and I somehow realy loved it. The swinging exercises feel so satisfying and I found out I like the compound exercises over adressing a single muscle. Thats somewhat ironic as in my dance style it is all about learning to isolate muscle movement. I guess I will have to buy me some Kettlebells and try out your beginner exercieses. Thank you for giving us the run down, making my decision to invest in Kettlebells very easy. Greetings from gerrmany :D

For the average home trainer or gym goer that is pursuing health and fitness good old iron hex db's are superior to kb's for many reasons. The top 3 are: cost, versatile, and less of a learning curve.
