I recently purchased the LiteCam 100FPS Game Capture software and decided to put it against fraps to compare how much of a system drag it is I was surprised to see that fraps is actually better in terms of quality and system drain. Steam recently greenlit this software I guess in hopes that it would be a decent and cheaper alternative to fraps. after this demonstration i would still recommend fraps as far as software goes
