Показать описание
Hey guys, welcome to Travelzilla. Please join me on a WALKING TOUR of the city of LISBON the capital of PORTUGAL as I show you some of it's main tourist attractions. Of course you can´t do it all in a single walking tour which is why this is the first of a series of walking tour videos of Lisbon! On this first walking tour we start at the ROSSIO SQUARE in the center of the city. At Rossio I explain a little bit about the ties that link Brazil and Portugal. The Sq has a monument to DOM PETER IV aka D. PEDRO I of BRAZIL. He was at the same time, the first emperor of Brazil and has declared Brazil's independence, yet abdicated it in the name of his son DOM PEDRO II (D. Peter II) went back to Portugal and led the Liberal revolution. Rossio Sq is home to the QUEEN MARIA II National Theater. Queen Maria II, was the Queen of Portugal, but she was actually born in BRAZIL, back when RIO DE JAnEIRO was the capital of the Portuguese empire. It is quite a story and the links between Brazil and Portugal are far deeper then people seem to realize.
After a walking tour of Lisbon starts at ROSSIO SQUARE we more toward a neighborhood called CHIADO. The streets of CHIADO are very charming, filled with shops and restaurants. On the way there we pass by the SANTA JUSTA ELEVATOR, GARRETT Street and the famous cafe A BRASILEIRA, one of Lisbon's most famous cafés. From there we move onto Luís de Camoes SQ and then to the famous area of BAIRRO ALTO, one of Lisbon's most bohemian neighborhoods. From Bairro Alto we walk towards Sao Roque Church, the SAO PEDRO DE ALCANTARA gardens and viewpoint and from there we keep going up the hill towards the neighborhood called PRINCIPE REAL.
