It's been 11 years since this game released!
I was rather lucky to get this game on the Wii U and I definitely enjoyed it but I eventually got the Switch, bought the deluxe version and aced it. 
I've noticed World 8 is much shorter than the Wii (2009) and DS (2006) versions.
I also had to get used to using Horizontal Mode as I couldn't use the Nunchuck unlike the Wii version (which I've played for 14 years and still own it today!) but I've since aced the controls :)

I've noticed the final fight with Bowser is sort of similar to the DS version (2006) however this one is much harder in my opinion. 
Outstandingly, I managed to defeat Bowser on my first ever attempt!

The phrases the characters say after defeating the final boss in New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe are different than what they say in the previous New Super Mario Bros. games. In New Super Mario Bros. 2, however, the phrase Mario and Luigi say together after defeating is different as well.
