I Built The PERFECT TURBO MIATA Exhaust (Sounds Insane...)

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video we fabricate a FULL, CUSTOM Exhaust for my 400HP Turbo Miata. The exhaust is constructed of 3" stainless steel tubing, a vibrant performance resonator, dynomax muffler, mishimoto vband clamps, and a badlandz electric cutout.

It's insane to think that this is the same car you started building back when you still made forza videos, coolest miata on the site

On a valved setup the ‘high flow loud’ side should take airflow priority and the ‘quiet’ side should take a 90 degree angle out of that pipe with a smaller piping diameter. It’ll greatly improve drone characteristics and it’ll make it much quieter without having to use even more additional mufflers. And if you place the valve closer to the tip of the high flow side, it’ll also act as a Helmholtz resonator when shut.

Love the content just hope this may help if you ever want to improve the db difference between modes.

If you want to reduce drone, I highly recommend swapping out the bottle resonator for a Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator. They reduce drone so much it's insane, but they don't decrease volume too drastically.

Also, what a fantastic video this was. This has to be the best production quality yet!

Here's my only suggest for welding stainless, be sure to back purge the piping to prevent "sugaring". It can cause the backside of the weld to be full of impurities and can increase the chance of weld failure, especially on an exhaust where it's getting a TON of vibrations.

My guy you went off with the edit; the musicality and flow is great. Keep up the awesome work.

The fact that the Eclipse scars are still just sitting there in that intersection is _wiiild..._ I wonder how long it'll take for those to disappear, or if they'll just need to repave the road.

Once you get that rhythm going with the tig pulse and your setting dialed in, it all just comes together.

If you want to make the quiet mode really quiet so the loud mode is full power, using a triple chambered reactive muffler from MagnaFlow might be an idea, and size it to like a half inch smaller diameter than the exhaust, so 2.5 inches (the XL 3 Chamber is like 130 bucks so I don't know if that's cheap or not), that should make Molly real silent with the valve closed, and if you could set that valve to also open when boost pressure gets high enough then you could let Molly breathe if you hit the gas, and still have the manual open as an override so it just stays open regardless of the boost pressure. Molly though, she's sounding _hella fine_ now

I also just learned now about diffuser disc mufflers, you add discs to the stack to let air pass more freely and more loudly. They're those strange exhausts where the gas comes out the circular outside instead of straight on, some generators or other small engines have them if they don't just use one of those boxes plonked on the side, I saw a guy put a 4 inch one on his straight-pipe Jeep and with 12 discs it was 9db quieter at idle, and 24 discs was only 5db quieter. Mufflers are fascinating things, there's like over a dozen different designs, but the chambered muffler aka the reactive muffler seems to be the best at being quiet, more chambers more quiet.

It sounds awesome and it looks great, not to mention it looks super sturdy. Could always apply some heat to the exhaust tips to give them the blue heat colouration, would match with the paint :D

Always love the videos, but the editing on this one was especially entertaining. Also, would love a spotify of the background music.

Rip Eclipse. Also, if you want a positively stealth mode muffler for the quiet side, I'd suggest a Dynomax P/N 17676. It's only 2.5" but it'll tuck into and fill all the space where the one tip is, and then you could run a setup that kinda looks like a sideways pi symbol, with the end splitting off into a dual "center" exit tip that snakes around your jack point. Or a double blast pipe out one side, or just back into a single exit.

If not, and you wanna keep it 3-inch, look into a 17743(smaller body) or 17792(larger body). ALL of these are turbo-style (looping pathway) mufflers, witth the first being 1 loop (inlet and exit on the same side) and the latter two being two loops with an offset/offset design on opposite sides.

It makes me so happy to see you took my advice of using metric to heart. I have one more piece of advice I can guarantee you will love, get a 5" horizontal bandsaw from Wen. You'll literally save hours of your life on cleaning up exhaust pipes.

Have you ever considered getting a Fastback hardtop? I’ve always thought that they look amazing on NA Miatas and It would fit the more sporty/track esthetic.
