I love your Videos becaus you show such a genuine fascination and excitement for beetles <3 We also have a beetle commonly called "little stag beetle" here in Germany but that's Dorcus parallelipipedus. Always happy to find one of the little guys :) Interestingly enough the males look very similar to the females of another stag-Species called Lucanus cervus.

I remember when my friends all talked about the hime-kuwagata and the ko-kuwagata like they were different species! I had a major male growing up, fantastic little guys. I’m surprised to hear they’re the most common, though; P.inclanatus (nokogiri) was far more common and sought after when I was in Japan.
