Fix files being saved as JFIF back to JPG (JPEG)

This is a quick tip that shows you how to stop programs saving JPEG files as JFIF. I noticed this started happening with web browsers Firefox and Chrome.

Although I believe the files are technically JFIF, the data inside it is JPEG data; most programs expect a .JPG extension.

This is the address for RegEdit:
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\image/jpeg

Some image viewers were separating JFIF from JPG and not showing files in the correct order, so this solved the issue for me.

You can, of course, manually rename any .JFIF file extensions to .JPG and the files should be fine.

I have created subtitles for this video, if there were useful please give me a thumbs-up or write a comment ;-)

Thanks for watching :-)

I love it when people make videos like this. As a person who is not very "computer-savvy", it can be difficult to find videos that are willing to be clear and precise for people who might not know the subject back-to-front. Thanks so much for the help, if I could I'd give you 10, 000 likes for being so helpful. Thanks again!

*Why did microsoft do this?*
I have been changing type to *"All Files *.*"* then manually changing the extension to JPG when saving, and they open just fine. This fix is a real time saver.

I know this is years later, but Vivaldi has been saving files as jfif's for me recently, hugely annoying. This was amazingly succinct and explained exactly what was being changed, basically exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for making simple stuff like this!
