If that is a third-party piece of software, the licences could have been bundled with it – check that. Also, some Microsoft products come with FREE SQL Server licences included, i.e. "SQL Technology".

Can I install SQL Server Standard on 24+ core server. I understand SQL will not use full capacity of the server. But can I install SQL on a let's say 32 core server?
