From 1st January 2021 the law regarding the operation of unmanned aircraft in the UK changed and made the legal use of drones over 250g more restrictive. An operator of any drone/radio controlled aircraft in the UK should be aware of the new legislation. All drone operators MUST be registered with the CAA as an Operator unless,
1. the aircraft weighs 250g or less and is not fitted with a camera; or
2. the aircraft is a control line or round-the-pole (tethered) aircraft that weighs 1Kg or less; or
3. the aircraft is a 'toy' as defined in the EU Regulations (i.e. a product intended to be played with by children under 14, excluding any product with a combustion engine).

There is no requirement to register as an Operator if you only operate model aircraft indoors.

The BMFA has retained the facility for members to obtain their CAA Operator registration via the BMFA GoMembership system.

The Operator I.D. number must be clearly displayed on the aircraft or within a compartment that can be easily accessed without the use of a tool.

This is an interesting plane. I've been messing with VTOL for a couple of years and the no control surface design sounds like a good one. I've been following the press releases on this for a couple of months. I haven't seen any videos flying this that weren't test flights by the vendor. I also noticed the video was very choppy in this demo flight. I'm definitely interested but at this price point, I'd need to see a track record of successful users, reasonably priced spare parts and some sort of support (vendor or support forums) before I'd dive in. There's a thread about this on the ardupilot discussion forums from last month discussing this very same hardware configuration. No indication there that this is working yet. It would also be nice to be able to purchase the system as an ARF and use one's own radio and Arduplane hardware. That way users would have some ability to fix issues that may come up.
