Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Review: Not Fast Enough For The Money

When we think of a 'Ti' product, typically we look for a price/performance winner - like RTX 3060 Ti, 2080 Ti, 1080 Ti and so many others. RTX 3070 Ti? It's a beefed up RTX 3070 that doesn't provide great value at its price-point.

Off the top of my head, the ability to purchase one for MSRP would be nice.

The idea is obviously to keep changing people's perception of value in their favour. Firstly a higher price for the 3080 is "justified" by the abysmally valued 3080 Ti which then makes a higher price for the 3070 "better" and so on.

I have a feeling that finding a 3070 is going to be pretty much impossible (more than it already is). The only reason a 3070Ti exists is as a thinly veiled way for Nvidia to get in on the scalping since now they can just sell 3070Ti's for an extra $100 instead of selling 3070's.

I'll have to continue to make due with my 5700 XT. I paid under 400 for it over a year ago, and saw the same one I own listed on Amazon for 1600 a few weeks ago; this is insane.

rewatching this.. i got a 3070 ti.. the problem with the other "value option"(3070, 6800) is theyre known as such which gave them more demand and are more expensive in the market. heck even 3060ti was so overpriced it beat 3070ti by a wide margin.
so yea. what looked like a "bad" choice ended up being the more value one. got it for msrp + usual price hike in my country.

Im happy with my 3070, I’ll wait for 40 series to upgrade, not now. It delivers the 4K performance I need.

Perhaps more mature drivers would help the 3070 ti. I assume the new ram used here might allow for some more stable overclocking as well.

Still love the "Ray-Tracing GPUs do not significantly overperform on rasterization" argument.
It's like saying "Electric bikes do not overperform regular bikes when you don't use the electric features and they cost less money" or "5.1 home cinema kits do not overperform 2.1 kits when listening to stereo audio."

I don't care if 90% of your music collection is stereo, you buy a 5.1 sound system for surround content, just like you shouldn't care if 90% of your video-game collection is rasterized, you should buy a Ray-Tracing card for Ray-Tracing content.

Ever since the launch of the 20 series, Nvidia has made clear that Pascal (10 series) is good enough for everything, and that the next-gen of GPUs's only meaningful rasterization improvement is 4k/60fps (normal human beings wouldn't use TAA+MSAA on fast-paced games at 4k, and competitive gamers tune everything to low anyway). The 30-series cards are so fast on rasterization Nvidia is trying to sell 360hz latency along with it.



Still, this card sucks. Green is mocking us.

This 3070 Ti is a great card - sold out everywhere !
It has a future proof memory amount of 8 GB for the next gen raytracing games.
