Pen Thoughts on my first Sailor fountain pen: Sailor Shikiori Dragon Palace, tokiwa-matsu ink

Lovely pen! Yes, with their various Pro Gear models and colors, it’s tempting to keep purchasing. I am content with one Pro Gear regular, and I now know that I prefer the Pro Gear Slim. My favorite is the “Momo” Pro Gear Slim with a medium nib. It’s a wonderful writing experience, and I just adore the cherry-blossom vibes.

I have the same pen in Meigetsu (soft white body with black finials) and it's my favorite pen. You have to post it to write comfortably, but once it's posted, the weight balance is perfect, I dare say Sailor's balance is even better than Pilot's. The nib (shikiori, usually only available in MF) is just a tad too wide for me, but the feedback is *delicious*, like the sound you hear in your head when you're eating a pear. Long-time user of Pilot tend not to like Sailor, but thank you for keeping an open mind. I love your enthusiasm when you write with Sailor for the 1st time! It's like meeting a like-minded friend! Please post more updates as you compare Pilot 823 with Sailor nib.

I loved hearing your thoughts on this pen! I feel like I'm sitting and chatting with an old friend about some beloved stationery pieces. Thank you for making this video 🥰This pen color is just stunning and that ink is so fitting! While I love the two sailor pens I feel fortunate to posses, I can't say they are my favorites; I just simple like them. Out of the two I have my Yoseka refresh is my favorite. I adore Sailor's body and all the color ways! I even the soft-pencil like feedback. It's difficult to explain, isn't it? It's so smooth with a satisfying feedback, just as you mentioned. For me my only gripe is that pen size and leaking. I have long fingers for a woman or long hands?? It's impossible for me to use this pen uncapped 😔I held the pro gear and the size was not too much of a difference. The 21k nib was deliciously smooth and such a dream, yet the sizing was just a bit chubbier really. Also, I found inks will collect on the cap, enough to cause spillage if I'm not careful. I'm not sure why it does this as these pens live on my desk, perhaps I'm just unlucky?

Sailor and Pilot are my favorite pen brands of the many American, European, and Asian brands that I own. I normally get a F nib on my American/European brands and M on the Japanese brands to achieve the line widths I desire. I DO NOT put glitter or shimmer inks in my pens after a clogging experience with glitter and I simply don't like the way shimmer inks look. My favorite ink brands are Parker, Waterman, and Diamine.

Never tried a sailor fountain pen but after watching your vids I’m def going to look into one. I always thought it was comparable to pilot

I had the same reaction first writing with a gold-nibbed Sailor: woah. It took maybe one second. Now I am a Sailor Boi. My best is a Pro Gear; I covet a King of Pen, but refuse to pay for it.

That is a beautiful Sailor. Unfortunately, I don't own any. My collection mainly consists of Lamy, Kaweco, and some Pilots. For some reason, online forums have said that Sailor pens tend to be scratchy. Did you experience any scratchy behavior?

Is the pen around the same size as a Pilot Prera?

I could not stand my first Sailor because of how scratchy it was. I will try again and not get an EF. Any sailor lovers here know which nib is more smooth without having to go to a broad? I brought my 1st Sailor to a pen show for nib treatment and it is much better.

Hi, I own a fountain pen from this series, a Pro Gear Slim Mini... It's a very nice pen with a lack..., ink flow is problematic and converter usage is awful. First, the converter is one of the worst on the market, one of the last... It has zero capacity and the worst thing is that ink does not flow enough from it... Sorry to have complained... :( Your video is especially and your voice is so nice! Thanks a lot !
