As a broke book girlie I will literally dumpster dive anyday for those books. Problem is I live in a third world country WITH NO such thing as 'Barnes and Nobles' and people who don't just throw books in the dumpsters 😭

The book one drives me mad I work in a small book shop and instead of chucking out the books not selling we wrap them and sell them for £5 as a mystery book or the more damaged ones go in our book swap pile where you can grab a book for free. Either that or they go to the youth group or library. There are so many options.

Before anyone goes dumpster diving behind a Barnes & Nobles for books, my sister has worked at one since the end of the pandemic and according to her and her coworkers they don’t throw away any books into the trash at the store. If books don’t sell they keep them in the store and discount them until they’re sold then no longer order anymore. The only books that are “thrown away” are books that are damaged and misprinted (basically any book that is non salvageable). Those books are then sent to a facility where they are disposed of. I would suggest just going to a library, most libraries have a service that allows people to check out books online.

The tip one, that's just depressing... "Finding Jesus" won't substitute for literal income. Coming from a place that made tips, tips can go far when you save them up. Thats just vile, and I'm Catholic

As someone who lives in Australia and takes the bus to school almost everyday, I’m very glad that it’s currently the school holidays and I don’t have to go to school until around the start of February.

As someone who works at Barnes and noble, I can say my store location doesn’t do that!! If a book isn’t selling or we have too many copies, typically we send them back to the publisher. If we can’t send them back to the publisher we just discount the book and put then in the clearance section.

i actually really feel the lab one, I have severe OCD and one of my obsessions is uncontrollably washing my hands, and I used to do it around 30-40 times a day but it's been getting better at around 15
