The transition from the snobby, childish, & immature Boruto to the maturing, understanding, and acute self awareness phase really is pushing his character development. Manga content confirmed for 2020 this year is gonna be a good one.

Boruto went from being a disrespectful brat with daddy issues to a mature young man who understands what his father has been through and now respects him. Now that we are heading towards manga territory next year we shall see a full display of his growth in the Mujina Bandits Arc next year 2020 in January cannot wait.

People often say that Uzumaki Boruto is severely flawed as a character, when compared to his father, but... isn’t that natural? As children, we were neither wise, nor particularly mature, so why expect any different from him? He’ll change as he grows, like any other human. Just give him time.
