The vid made me smile and cry; my mom was a potter and we used to do this type of stuff all the time. She died in 2020. I miss her so much.

Surely she fires the clay in a kiln so the vegetation burns off leaving an impression.

I believe this is the beginning of the bas relief print method. She would be using pottery clay so it does not airdry and she would press the plant in then peel it away revealing a detailed print, she would then insert a frame mold over it and pour plaster of paris into it. When it dries the clay can be peeled away from the plaster of paris to reveal a really detailed print of the plant matter. I’ve used this technique on plants and also textiles before.
