ICELAND VIDEOS / PICTURES

STOP 1
Upon arriving at the airport we were picked up by Rent a Car Reykjavik and hopped in our dope red Jeep. It had four wheel drive which really came in handy. We started with a long drive up to the Westfjords.
TIP: Gas is expensive. About $6.33/ gallon so budget for gas.
MOST BEAUTIFUL DRIVE OF MY LIFE. We went to Iceland at the beginning of the summer (MAY) so there was still snow on the majority of the mountains in the Westfjords region.
Our first stop was Flateyri - it was pretty much a ghost town but our Air Bnb was just adorable and there was a bigger town close by where we ended up spending a good amount of time (Isafjordur, Iceland).
TIP: You will be fine with paying credit card everywhere but make sure to register a PIN for it before you leave the states.
We spent our first two days in this region. The drives were glorious, the towns were beautiful and there was a pretty epic waterfall close by… (Dynjandi Water Fall)

STOP 2
Stykkishólmur was one of my favorite parts of this trip and the drive there was so dreamy. If you are familiar with The Secret Life of Walter Mitty this is actually the “Greenland” town that he visits then takes off from in a helicopter. It was amazing to actually be where those scenes took place.
There is a large hill you can hike up next to the harbor and see the entire town. The view held me captive for two hours.
Some places we also visited during this part of our trip: Kirkjufell (waterfall & mountain), Arnarstapi (arch on the coast), and the Snæfellsnes peninsula.

STOP 3
Reykjavik is such a fabulous city and we got to experience a lot of it being there for 4/5 days. Concert we went to -- Alt-J
Tip: Even if you have a four wheel drive car don’t get too cocky when it comes to snow. We got stuck. What got us out -- toggling a switch called "traction control" who knew.
It was super stressful; however, it turned out to be one of the most memorable places we went. It was so GREEN and I truly felt like I was on a different planet. It makes for a good story.
Tip: Don’t blindly trust a Garmin GPS. When it comes to landmarks (i.e. waterfalls, mountains, etc.), look them up before-hand and get the directions from humans that have been there before.
Going up to the top of the church was unreal. The views were unforgettable and I am in love with how colorful the town is.

I actually was binge watching your old travel videos while on my flight to NYC this week.

I'm trying to decide on a trip to take for myself either this year or next year. I want to spend more time abroad next year and your travel vids are giving me some ideas.

This is the sign of a CREATOR, ARTIST, MAKER, that this video was filmed in 2015 before all the craziness! Rock on girlfriend. Also, I loved Iceland when I went! Amazing place.

Your musical taste is so good.
Literally paused your vlog to listen to Middle of Things four times in a row at full volume before continuing the video.

Thank you for the epic compilation. Iceland is the most wonderful place to visit and I tell everyone who is going to get out of Reykjavik, as you did, to really experience the country. I have been there three times for longer trips each time. One of the fun things to do back home is to pick out the Iceland scenes that are used in so many movies.

I just watched this, first of all, I'm a big fan and love your work. I got so inspired by that movie too, especially when I heard Casey's story on how they used their promotional budget to help people in the Philippines!

Keep it up girl!

I like that you went straight to Westfjords. Most people just hang around Reykjavik and then take the „golden circle“.

Hey Sarah! I just wanted to say that it's incredibly rare to find other peeps that love Walter Mitty as much as I do. For you to hop a plane around the globe to follow in the film's footsteps is just amazing and incredible - because it means you really, really got the whole message of the film!! Hats off to you for literally taking the journey. The film moved me to start skateboarding again after 30+ years. In fact that's how I eventually came across your videos. Anyway, Carpe Diem. You rock!
