Is Now The Time To Buy An Aston Martin V8 Vantage | A Supercar Bargain But Is Worth It?

Known as the 'baby Aston', the Aston Martin V8 Vantage may have been the entry level model, but that doesn't mean it can't hold its own against its supercar rivals. The cheapest way to get behind the wheel of a 'modern' Aston Martin, 18 years since its launch, early 4.3 litre variants can be picked up from as little as £25k. For me, the later 4.7 litre, 420 bhp variant is the pick of the range and great examples can be yours from £30k.

The V8 Vantage combines beautiful styling, a masterpiece 4.7 litre v8 engine and for now, a tempting price tag. All of which define it as a modern classic in the making. Join me as I take this manual 2008 model out for a drive and talk you through what it's like to get behind the wheel, what to expect in terms of ownership and help answer the question of does it still feel special after all these years?

I cannot find a replacement for the money

At 6'3" tall and ample build I can get very comfy in my 2009 Vantage Coupe. Replacement clutch, go with twin plate as it comes with lightened flywheel for the same price as the OEM clutch. It livens the car up and fit Michelin pilot sport 4S tyres, huge improvement.

Love the video! I bought mine a couple of years ago, sat in my man cave right now staring at it as I watch the video. For me, the design is the stand out feature. There are no bad angles on the car, every way you look at it it’s beautiful. Anyone who is on the fence about these, don’t be. Buy one. You won’t regret it.

Sometimes the window drop doesn’t work, other times the door handle can be a bitch but at the end of the day, it’s an Aston Martin. It’s got character, you can feel what the car likes, what it doesn’t. The raw engineering behind the engine really puts you in touch with your primal side. Once you pass 6k revs and the exhaust truly screams, the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.

Amazing car. Great review.

I purchased a 2008 Roadster over two years ago and I love driving the car. It has been very reliable and draws a lot of attention at car shows. I enjoy taking it on local Aston Martin Owners Club rides which is probably one of the things I enjoy most about owning the car. My wife and I have met so many nice people during club events.

Nice to watch a solid review not presented by someone too fond of their own voice! 👏 good job 👍

Bought mine about a month ago, 2012 V8VS Roadster.
Quirky...yes, as so many have said. But adds to the cars charm

Brilliant video. I have a MY2016 V8V and I love mine. It's definitely quirky, for example, whoever geared reverse needs to be pelted with tomatoes because it feels like reversing in second gear! Steering is really heavy at low speed as well so manoeuvring in a small car park can be challenging. However, get her out onto the open road and it all becomes worth it!

Addicted to the Vantage. Have a few rare ones😬GT8 manual, V12 Roadster, V12S manual. Great fun but if you can even get into V8 you will enjoy 👍🏻

Loved watching this and I bought the 4.7 and going to the shops to get some eggs is a theatrical episode hence my local shop is now 5 miles further than it should be. You simply never get bored with getting in one. Great review.

I have a 2012 V8S and I love it. It's in near perfect condition, has 17k miles and is a true pleasure to drive. It is one of the best looking cars around and every time I have it out, I get a few thumbs up and comments. These cars are pretty rare and I love that.

Simple answer is YES buy now. Where else do you get a normally aspirated, manual V8 for that money!

Solid review mate but that slow down at 9:15 was unneeded

A real balanced video which says it exactly as it is. I bought a 4.3 Vantage 4 years ago. Wherever I take it, it's admired. Its got more than adequate power and handling for any UK road. The styling is just gorgeous and has aged better than the DB9. At 6ft2 I have no problem with space. All I'd say...they won't be this price for long!.

Lovely styling - sat in a couple in dealer show rooms and the cabin felt nice but the visibility is an issue - I am 6’1’ and the car felt very compact compared to my 997 Carrara S. I would be interested in which you though was the better of the two cars? I think I would go DB9 for that lovely v12 if I were choosing to swap out the 911 as I get older….👍

I really wanted one of these but at 6'4 I just couldn't get the seat low enough to prevent my head pushing into the headliner. Felt very cramped inside to me. I ended up in a 997 which has acres of space and visibility inside in comparison. Still want an AM someday though :-)
