Just want to say thank you. This saved me! My white car was entirely plastered with tar from needing to drive on construction roads numerous times a day. I actually thought my car was covered in dirt so after I went through a car wash, nothing came off and the guy told me it was tar.

Did exact what you said in the video and now my car looks fantastic. Thanks again!

hi Nazty Nate . In france the goverment have given loads of money, to local councils, to repair all the roads to give work to people who have lost their job, through Covid, you can sign on with a team and of you go ! The only problem is where ever you go, it does nt matter how remote, the roads are being tard / graveled ! and of course you sometimes get tar etc stuck to your motor, I found your upload, it was magic, and done a fantastic job ! just the business mate ! many thanks from le mans france . ritchie .

Thank you so very much for this Video! My whole right side of my white truck was covered with black tar and it splattered up the whole side too. Was upset thought it was ruined. Wd-40 really worked great! Thank you again.

Honestly was not expecting it to work as well as it did on tar that's been there for years. It took some scrubbing but it came off. There were also some spots that I thought were rust that came off, which was a very nice surprise

This information is 💯 - I rode my bike today and somehow I ended up with grease all over my light gray rims. After using a wash that said it would remove grease, tar, bugs and grime for 45 minutes.... to not much lunch, I found this YouTube page. This guy is spot on with the WD40. I applied it and the grease came off with very minimal effort. This was a huge time saver. My rims are restored to new again... A big THANK YOU.

Absolutely fantastic, just bought a white car that was covered in tar, it was so bad I got the thing cheap. Came off like a dream. Bit of a tip that worked for me... the thicker parts weren't coming off so I used a plastic scraper to take some of it off, once it was broken down slightly the WD40 worked a treat. Thanks for the vid 👍

I can only add to the numerous comments of praise. I had some tar spidering its way across the whole left side of the car. A good spray of wd40 and a wipe. Voila, it was gone. Thanks, buddy. Saved me a possible fortune as I'm selling the car.

Im an auto detailer great work but i suggest adding wax or sealant side to side not in circular motion

I tend to find a flat headed screwdriver works really well when it comes to removing contaminants from the paint, just a few minutes of scraping and it looks a treat 👌

Ok, it seems that others have made many of the points that I intended. To sum up, use Citrol (the aerosol can will cost you about $16 if you shop around, but shipping will cost you). Or, if you want, spend $70 for a gallon. The gallon can be diluted, but tar requires full strength. You will not need much Citrol, as it is so effective. You can store extra. Btw, it removes stickers better than anything else. It's also great for paint transfer and bug guts.

Citrol is water soluble, and you MUST rinse off of clear coat. That said, since it's water soluble, any water based product will work well in the rinse. Optimum No Rinse is convenient. Since Citrol does not have grease in it, there is no reason to use Dawn or any other degreaser with it. Citrol will remove waxes and sealants. Just use a spray wax when tar is removed. For consumers, Turtle Wax ICE spray wax is easy, long lasting, and cheap. The ICE sealant (as opposed to spray wax) lasts even longer. The release of these two products caused a sensation in the detailing community.

Finally, Dawn is not effective as a strip wash for most modern waxes and sealants. It turns out that its surfactants hang out after washing, and these make the paint LOOK wax free. Dawn has no place on your paint.

So I have the same problem- not as much though! I first used a Magic eraser on one side, the tar did come off just took longer than I expected. So I googled about using WD-40, much faster than using the eraser, need to go back over it with some Dawn & sealer. Great video!
