Yu-Gi-Oh GX: Episode 3 REVIEW (Sub VS Dub)

The first duel between Judai and Asuka! Definitely a really funny episode, as Judai continues to run rough shot through everyone at Duel Academy. Hope you all enjoy! :)

Fact #1: Kaiba is the owner of the school.
Fact #2: Kaiba is not against spying people through cameras (as seen in battle city)
Fact #3: Every woman HAS to live in the blue girls dorm, their skill doesn't matter, they have to live there.
Fact #4: Every woman in the blue girls dorm is attractive.
Fact #5: The blue girls dorm is the only dorm that have a personal hot tub.

Did Kaiba created Duel school to spy attractive women through cameras?

Here's a little trivia about this episode's monsters:
1) Cyber Blader is very similar to Edo's Destiny Hero- Blade Master, not just by appearance, but also their type, and they both have an effect that increases ATK value.
2) Elemental Hero Sparkman is one of the most varied Elemantal HERO monsters ever, with 7 different fusion versions and an equip spell card, spark blaster. Of the original vanillas, only Avian has more. Burstinatrix has an equal amount of cards related to it as Sparkman. Neos is in a class of its own though.

I remember when I first watched this episode as a kid way back when and Judai/Jaden pulled out Thunder Giant. I freaked out at that moment when he's like "oh, this thing destroys any monster who has less original ATK" and I was like "JADEN, YOU'RE AWESOME"

You know, I think Chronos deserves a lot of credit for hard work. At this point, he seems to care more about Judai getting expelled then he does about his career. I mean, spying on the girls dorm and trying to get a student expelled would get most teachers fired.

I’m glad that someone else brought up about all girls being in obelisk blue. From s bit of extra reading, it sounds like no other dormitory has separate housing for females, so all girls have to be in the blue dorm.
Other then the kinda questionable parts of this episode, it was interesting to get formally introduced to Asuka and getting to see her duel!

It's been a long time since I've seen that episode. This was a good episode for introducing Asuka and how she's not interested in love. Plus Cyber Blader was the first Fusion Monster card I ever got. The effects remain the same in the anime, but I don't like how Cyber Blader is a Level Six monster in the anime rather than Level 7 in the TCG/OCG. That's why Fusion Weapon worked on her. Then again, many of the cards that Asuka has didn't come out till much later, such as Doble Passe in 2014 and the Cyber Angels in 2016.

All the female duelists were put in a seperate Obelisk Blue dorm because the other dorms have no room apparently. That's why Rei had to crossdress to get into the Red dorm at first.

It's kind of absurd that such terrible duelists as Asuka's two friends gets to be in the most prestigious dorm. Gotta have them gender quotas!

Asuka is one of my favorite characters in GX, so it's always great to see her in the spotlight ^_^

And I remember finding this episode hilarious as well.

I wish Judai had lost to Asuka, even if only once. In Episode 3 they duel, i thought Judai was gonna lose. Think about it: it's his first day at Duel Academy and he beat the Queen of the Obelisks? I feel like it should've been!
Judai: Thunder Giant! Attack!
Asuka: You're good, but not enough!
Asuka: I activate my quick-play spell: Quick Shot!
Asuka: All the spells in my hand can be activated at any time, just like quick-play spells!
Asuka: I Have Monster Reborn!
I reborn your Flame Wingman from your graveyard!

Asuka: I can see that by your personality.
Asuka: Dueling is the best way to see the opponent's soul.
Asuka: You're not the type of person that Cronos described you.
Asuka: So i'll let you go.
Judai: That was a fun duel! You really are worthy of the title of "Queen of the Obelisks"
Asuka: (He reminds me of my brother...)

Well the thing with the entrance to the girls Dorm is, that there is a landway.
i can't link picture for some reason, but you can see it on different pictures of the dorm.
Also for some reason, there appears a Ra Yellow Girl in the background on one of the earlier episodes. So maybe you will see her soon.

Asuka is such a cool character. Maybe it's just me, but I've always liked the relationship she had with Ryo. I know it was not the central focus of the show but I think it was cool
