Journey to the Château, Ep. 225 - In this Friday episode, Patrick and Stuart deal with a late night thunderstorm and torrential rain that started flooding into the chateau. They spend the following day back up the ladder to once again clear out all of the chateau gutters and downspouts. Patrick also shows one of the fabrics from their recent shopping trip to Paris with which he creates a curtain for the single occupancy bedroom used for family and friends.

We had a storm so bad years ago the water was covering the floors faster than i could mop it. I got the yard brush swept it outside and put towels on window sills hours it took to just get back to a wet floor and no puddles. Through it all i came up with a new language not for repeating but it sounded wonderful at the time. Love the curtains . Have a nice weekend never mind the curtains have a glass of wine instead.
Cheers from Australia.

Maybe occasionally just fly the drone over your roof to see any problem areas in the gutters. Amazing how much accumulation since spring. So sorry this happened.

I should have known you would already have tried that. 🤔 You both are doing an amazing job on the chateau. So talented! My husband and I really enjoy your channel. We wish you the best! 😊❤

First thing I thought when I saw the water gushing down the window was gutters! We have a similar problem. You’re doing your best with two when the original owners has a team of servants to help! The curtains are perfect! ❤

The fabric color is perfect to go with the plums in the wallpaper. So pretty. That's an awfully tall ladder! Yikes! That water coming down in sheets on the window was scary! You gentlemen certainly have a good attitude about chateau challenges. I guess you have to to be able to do what you do.

I love that little bedroom wallpaper! Since anyone who'd be lucky enough to sleep in that room would be surrounded by flowers, fruit, and birds, what about "chambre jardin"? Sleeping in there would be like sleeping in a garden.

Oh my Patrick, that ladder is so high 😮. I couldn't do it. It would be wonderful if you find a young man, a older teenager, to go up and clean those out once a month. It would eliminate the worry. The plum curtains look perfect. Love the color.

Patrick, seeing you that far of the ground, I immediately thought you needed a superman cap. Best wishes from Australia

Thanks for being "you", taking an issue and making the best of it, finding curtain rods.

I'm so sorry to hear you had all that rain and clean up. Go to a local charity shop and buy old towels for situations like this. Oh, I absolutely love the colour of curtains it's gorgeous 😊

You’ve mastered so many restoration skills, not the least of which is the ability to reframe circumstances and even find humor. At least after the fact! Bravo darlings!

My suggestion would be the Burgundy room for wine and colour. Heather

Casement windows and storms, they do not go together very well. Here in Saskatchewan our 100+ yr old home still has the original casement windows upstairs that open inwards. When it is torrential rain I run around upstairs with towels to stop the water seeping into the pine floors. I feel for you, it is hard work trying to keep up with the water pouring in through windows and under doors. I am glad there was no damage anywhere. Curtains will come another day, Patrick. Climbing a ladder to clear the eave troughs was more important.
I love the colour of the curtains in the tiny bedroom.
