Jimmy is one of 12 children and he says he's always been treated differently. With the loss of Jimmy's grandmother, Jimmy is trying to find his place in his family. Jimmy's mom Amanda says she doesn't want to discuss the "g-a-y topic" anymore? Can Karamo help this family begin to heal?

The fact that she couldn’t even say the word ‘gay’ told me all I need to know.

When he broke down for his grandma, I knew she was the only one who truly loved him wholeheartedly & that loss is still breaking him. I bawled. I’m so proud of you Jimmy. I pray you have peace with living in your truth♥️

that kid is bright, he is going places... with or without his mother's support and respect.

As a gay 69-year-old black man I too went through the same with my family. I never felt the love from my deceased Dad, my mom always tells me she loves me when we talk, but not from my older or younger siblings. It was so bad, that I moved 250 miles away, 40 years ago. It is tough getting older without the love of your family. Jimmy, you are a great inspiration to all gay black males with the same feelings all over the world. A great video, Thanks.

Never, ever, ever beg for acceptance from anyone, including your mother. YOU MATTER!! My mother flipped on me, and I refuse to let her stop me. Like you, my granny supported LGBT people 100 percent, even went to Gay Bingo to see the Drag Queens, and they called her big mama. First Lady Elenor Roosevelt said, ”No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” You will NEVER give your consent Jimmy❤️❤️🤗🤗

I knew his granny was his person. He instantly got emotional. I'm so happy he had unconditional ❤ from his grandmother. I know she's so proud of him.

Mom!!! I’m most definitely near your age and I was raised around bigots, homophobia and racism and a word of advice. No matter how we were raised, we as ADULTS know that we don’t have to live that way, ESPECIALLY knowing we can and are hurting others. Our children and grandchildren deserve better. You are denying yourself a true loving relationship and after this life is over you want to leave the world a better place

I am a mother of a gay daughter, and I was raised to believe it was a sin. However, the moment my daughter told me the belief went out the window because my love for my daughter is unconditional. I don't see her as a gay woman. I see her only as my daughter. True love allows you to see past anything when it comes to your kids.

As a black, gay, Christian man this broke my heart because I was him. The fact that his mom couldn't even say the word gay reminded me of my mom. I went thru the same thing with my family, but 10 years later I have the best relationship with both parents, my father is now my best man in my wedding. Jimmy, you are a very handsome young man and with time and patience, everything will be okay. Just give your mother time and help her understand who you are. Karamo, I thank you so much for being a trailblazer, I love you down man fr

I don't blame her totally. She was taught that being gay is wrong. She was taught that it is a sin. I do give her kudos for caring enough for her child, and coming on the show to learn, and be able to reconnect with her son. Let the healing begin!
