Dude I relate to you so much! I've been wanting a MacBook and airports, thinking of a MacBook for years, saving so many pins on Pinterest and looking at them thinking “one day lol” and suddenly I got both of them as an 18th birthday gift+ kinda also graduation gift from my parents also is my first ever laptop. This was so unexpected and out of the blue but I am so grateful 😭😭i really don't deserve one but I'm glad I get to use such a thing

Just a tip, based on experience and from what I've read, it would be much healthier for the battery if we keep our macs plugged while being used. No need to worry about over-charging. Continuous plugging lessens cycle count of the battery/power :)

also, a suggestion
even using the hard shell covers isn’t good because
1)when you remove it, it’ll tend to leave scuff marks around the edges
2) if any dust is trapped between the case and the actual laptop, it might scratch the laptop surface(would probably be unnoticeable but still)

I’ve ordered a laptop sleeve so its like a protective and proper padded, waterproof, shock resistant bag. I would highly suggest it as it feels really good and actually protective(arrived much earlier than the macbook itself 😂 )
