The Nintendo Switch OLED Model - Who is it for?

Nintendo has announced the Switch OLED Model and some folk are little confused as to it's intended for. So our very own Kurt Indovina weighs in on the conversation.

While some may have been expecting a Switch Pro with 4K output, others are justifying reasons to upgrade from their current Switch to this OLED Model. However, there's also the consideration that the Switch OLED Model may not be intended for current Switch owners at all.

In the above video, Kurt Indovina takes a step back, and examines where the Nintendo Switch OLED Model exists in the current roster of Switches, as well as measure the value of its $350 price tag. It's basically the replacement to the normal Switch.
If yours is old and knackered, you might want to upgrade, otherwise it's for new buyers.

As for me, I currently own the regular switch v2 so I’d rather save that $350 for the games.

I've heard OLED displays are easier on the eyes than traditional LCD displays, like on the original Switch. They also are supposed to have way lower response times (below 1ms.) So even if it's not a "Switch Pro" the display is still a bit of an upgrade. I imagine this is mostly for new Switch buyers, as well as luring in some dedicated superfans with enough money that they just automatically buy any new Switch revision regardless, lol.

Well all I see is for those who want a slightly larger screen, OLED may be an amazing technology in the eyes of some people but if you want OLED for your docked switch get an OLED TV.
