Easy to see why in 1982 so many people looked at the Sierra, then at the Cortina and back to the Sierra again and said ‘what the fu…?’

By the time the 1987 facelift came round, it started to look a bit more normal and even in 1992 in its last year of production it still looked relatively fresh compared to its rivals. Really was a groundbreaking design. The Sierra never really gets enough credit, except for the Cossie version. Tends to have a more lukewarm reputation amongst Ford fans, purely because it was the car which signalled the death knell for the Cortina.

I had the 2.3 Ghia, the same colour as that one, it was slow and used alot of fuel, no power steering either with a heavy V6.
